The Whirlpool Gold GSS26C5XXY refrigerator is a 26.4 cubic ft, side by side model. The Whirlpool Gold GSS26C5XXY has a stainless steel exterior, which gives it a nice modern look. A few other notable features include: 6th sense temperature management, MicroEtch spill-control shelves, in-door ice maker and bin to save freezer space, exterior water and ice dispensers, multi LED lighting, Energy Star qualified (Resource Saver), doors open wider than previous models, gallon door bins and a convertible meat and vegetable compartment.

Now we’ll go over the potential problems with the Whirlpool Gold GSS26C5XXY refrigerator. I first have to mention that Whirlpool is rated number 1, when it comes to side-by-side models. However, side-by-side fridges have been shown to break down more often than other styles (top-freezer, french door, etc). So, there is still the potential, even though it’s not too likely. The main problem I have with the Whirlpool Gold GSS26C5XXY is the ice maker. I have read a few reviews that mention it freezing up, and making some noise. This would most likely happen if you don’t use the ice-maker very often. Also, I think the layout of this refrigerator could have been a little better. To me, it seems more like a 22 or 23 cubic ft fridge. But, not a huge deal. It is currently priced at $1,800 - a fair price for what you get. I’m giving the GSS26C5XXY model a 4/5 star rating.
