KitchenAid KSRV22FVSS Review

KitchenAid KSRV22FVSS

The KitchenAid KSRV22FVSS refrigerator is a 21.7 cubic ft, side by side model with plenty of style and features. The stainless steel exterior of the KitchenAid KSRV22FVSS looks sleek and modern. I really like the LCD display above the dispensers - it’s bright and easy to read. Another cool feature on this model is the temperature management system. When the sensors detect a change in temperature in the fridge, it automatically pushes cold air from the freezer into the refrigerator. A few more features worth noting: gallon door bins, slide-out glass shelves, PuR filtration system, crisper and meat pan, and it is also Energy Star qualified.

Unfortunately, the KitchenAid KSRV22FVSS refrigerator isn’t quite perfect. A number of users complain about the noise level of this model. It is pretty loud, but I wouldn’t say that it’s a lot louder than competitor models. Also, you have to expect the exterior to get marked up with fingerprints - it is a stainless steel model, after all. Another complaint is that the freezer side seems a little small. I know the Kitchenaid KSRV22FVSS isn’t a big refrigerator to begin with, but it can get pretty crowded in the freezer if you don’t budget the space well. Overall, this is a decent model for the $1,500 price tag. I’m giving this fridge a 4/5 star rating.

Frigidaire FRT18L4JM Review

Frigidaire FRT18L4JM

Our Frigidaire FRT18L4JM review: If you’re in search of a refrigerator that is smaller, yet still has the stainless steel look, you’ll want to check out the Frigidaire FRT18L4JM fridge. This model has 18.2 cubic ft and is constructed of a brushed metal - although it is not really stainless steel. It costs right around $480, so it’s definitely on the cheaper side. There really is nothing “extra” on this model, it is very basic. It has door bins, shelving, a freezer shelf, and a frost-free condenser.

Unfortunately, the Frigidaire FRT18L4JM refrigerator does not come with an ice maker - although, you can buy one separately. It’s also not Energy Star compliant. One other problem that a lot of people complain about is the noise level. It could be a deal breaker for a lot of buyers. I’ve also read more than a few reviews which say that their Frigidaire FRT18L4JM broke down after only 4-5 years of using it. Unfortunately, I can only give this model a 3.5/5 star rating because of the potential problems associated with it.

Amana A4TXNWFWW Review

Amana A4TXNWFWW

Our Amana A4TXNWFWW review: With 14.4 cubic ft of space, you won’t get a lot of room with the Amana A4TXNWFWW refrigerator. However, it would work perfect in a small house, aparment, condo or even as a smaller second refrigerator. A few features you’ll find on this model are: 3 adjustable wire shelves, an up-front temp control system, 3 door shelves, interior light, dairy center and it also has reversible doors. The white exterior on this fridge gives it a more classic look. As you can see, it has the essentials covered, but not much else.

Unfortunately, there are a number of features you won’t be getting when you buy the Amana A4TXNWFWW refrigerator. For instance: the shelves are wire and not glass, there is no freezer light, no egg container, no optional ice maker, it’s not Energy Star qualified, and no gallon door storage. All that to say, it is indeed a very basic model - but, that doesn’t make it a bad model. In fact, I think the Amana A4TXNWFWW is a great little refrigerator. The $400 price tag justifies a lot of the missing features. If all you need is a very basic model that works great, I would recommend this model. I’m giving it a 4.5/5 star rating.

GE GSH25JSXSS Review

GE GSH25JSXSS

Our GE GSH25JSXSS review: With exactly 25 cubic ft of space, the GE GSH25JSXSS refrigerator is a decent sized side-by-side model. It also has a good amount of features for a fridge that is just over $1,000. The stainless steel is nice, and contrasts well with the black accents. A few of it’s most prominent features include: external temp controls and child lock, external water and ice dispensers, adjustable temperature deli drawer, deluxe quiet design, auto energy saver, adjustable gallon door bins, spill-proof glass shelves, and a water filtration system. Another neat feature is FrostGuard. Basically, it protects your frozen items from unnecessary defrosting (freezer burn). It’s also Energy Star qualified, which should help save a few bucks in the long run.

The problems with the GE GSH25JSXSS refrigerator seem to be few. Quite a number of users complain about how tough the plastic wrapping is to take off, after you first purchase it. It’s not a huge problem, more of an annoyance. The second issue is that there is no water seal between the dispenser tray and the fridge, which allows water to leak down the refrigerator. Of course, with any stainless steel model you’ll have to wipe it down constantly to keep it looking clean. The last minor complaint I have about the GE GSH25JSXSS refrigerator is that the front side of the door is not magnetic. So, we’ve got a lot of smaller problems, but all the reviews I’ve read have not mentioned any major problems - so that’s a good thing. For the price, you really can’t find much cheaper of a stainless steel model. I’m giving this fridge a 4/5 star rating.

Hotpoint HTM18IBPSA Review

Hotpoint HTM18IBPSAThe Hotpoint HTM18IBPSA refrigerator is an 18 cubic ft top freezer model. In this review I’ll go over the Hotpoint HTM18IBPSA fridge’s positive and negative aspects and then give the final verdict of whether it’s worth the money. The silver metallic exterior looks nice, but I still prefer actual stainless steel. A few of its other features include: illuminated slimline temperature controls, NeverClean condenser, deluxe quiet design, gallon door storage, adjustable glass shelving, and rounded doors. An ice-maker is optional, which is a fairly common practice when buying a top freezer refrigerator.

The current price of the Hotpoint HTM18IBPSA refrigerator is $860. For this style of fridge and size, it’s a pretty typical price. Unfortunately, this model does have a few negative aspects to it. The first is that it’s not Energy Star qualified - which is not a huge deal, but it does mean you’ll pay more in the long run. A few other things I don’t like: the shelves are not spill-proof, there is no water filter for the ice maker, the door is not reversible, and the door storage is not adjustable. A few of those problems are not really deal breakers by themselves. However, put all together, I cannot give the Hotpoint HTM18IBPSA refrigerator very high ratings. I’m giving this model a 3.8/5 star rating.

Electrolux EW23BC71IB Review

Electrolux EW23BC71IBOur Electrolux EW23BC71IB review: The 22.6 cubic ft, french door Electrolux EW23BC71IB refrigerator is a deep black colored model with a good amount of features. It also costs a pretty penny (currently $3,300), so we’ll take a look at all the features to see if it’s actually worth the money. On board this fridge you’ll find: 4 luxury design glass shelves, external water and ice dispensers, an ice-maker which can produce a whopping 9 lbs of bullet shaped ice in 24 hours, perfect temp drawer with 9 preset modes, 3 luxury-glide freezer baskets, PureAdvantage water filter and air filter, and wave-touch controls. I have to admit, the wave-touch controls are a pretty neat, high-tech addition.

Now I’ll go over the potential negatives of the Electrolux EW23BC71IB refrigerator. The first is the price, no question about it. At this price level, you could get a good 28 or 29 cubic ft fridge. The features are definitely cool and very useful, but I’m not sure they are cool enough to justify $3,300. The other more petty issue I have with this model is the shelves. They look spectacular, but I’m not sure they are the most spill-proof shelving available. Also, it would have been nice to have the dispenser be slightly taller. I would probably give the Electrolux EW23BC71IB our highest rating, except for the price. For that reason, I can only give it 4.5/5 stars.

Frigidaire LPHS2687KF Review

Frigidaire LPHS2687KFThe Frigidaire LPHS2687KF refrigerator is a 26 cubic ft, side by side model. The Frigidaire LPHS2687KF is part of the Professional series and has a sleek stainless steel exterior. A few of its most prominent features include: a tall 9″ water and ice dispenser, PowerPlus Ice for faster ice making, performance lighting (lights up the entire fridge easily), door bin liners, large adjustable crispers, spill-proof glass shelving, and tall door design. It also has hidden hinges for a sleeker look. Another feature I really like on the LPHS2687KF model is the air filtration system. This really keeps the food fresh and clean.

There are a couple thing about the Frigidaire LPHS2687KF refrigerator I don’t like. The first is the ice bin in the freezer. It takes up way too much space. The other “issue” I have with this model is that it doesn’t quite seem like a 26 cubic ft fridge. For some reason (maybe it’s deep and not very wide), it feels more like a 23 or 24 ft model. It may also seem a little petty, but it would have been nice to have a dual cooling system. Other than that, I don’t really have much to complain about with the Frigidaire LPHS2687KF refrigerator. I’m giving it a 4/5 star rating.

KitchenAid KSSC48QVS Review

KitchenAid KSSC48QVSOur KitchenAid KSSC48QVS review: If you’re looking for space and style, and money is not holding you back - you’ll want to check out the KitchenAid KSSC48QVS refrigerator. This built-in, side by side fridge is nearly 30 cubic ft, so you shouldn’t run out of space anytime soon. The stainless steel exterior and sleek design gives this model a very modern look. A few other features worth mentioning: Energy Star qualified, flush electronic water and ice dispensers, ExtendFresh Plus temp management system, in-door ice bucket to increase freezer space, attractive LCD dispenser display, and a Quick-fill water dispenser that dispenses water twice as fast as previous models. Of course, it also has spill-proof glass shelves and plenty of large door bins. The freezer has 6 shelves and 2 baskets to store your frozen goods.

Now let’s get to the negative aspects of the KitchenAid KSSC48QVS refrigerator. Unfortunately, the nearly $8,000 price tag is going scare some potential buyers away. In fact, this is one of the most expensive fridges currently on the market. Other than price, there isn’t a lot to complain about (which I hope would be the case, for such an expensive model). I suppose the KitchenAid KSSC48QVS could be considered too modern for some buyers as well. It kind of gives off an industrial refrigerator vibe. Some people love it, and others hate it. The stainless steel will also attract fingerprints. I’m giving the KitchenAid KSSC48QVS refrigerator a 4.5/5 star rating.

GE GFSS6KEXSS Review

GE GFSS6KEXSSThe GE GFSS6KEXSS refrigerator is a 25.8 cubic ft, french door model. The stainless steel exterior of the GE GFSS6KEXSS is sleek and modern looking. The contoured doors and hidden hinges give it a very classy look. A few other features you’ll find on the GE GFSS6KEXSS are: GE Reveal lighting, dual evaporators to maintain high humidity for fresh foods, Upfront Temp controls with actual temperature, ice maker with water filtration system, Spillproof glass shelves, secure door close system, and it’s also a deluxe quiet design. The space on this fridge is arranged very well. To me, it seems more like a 27 or 28 cubic ft model.

The main issue I have with the GE GFSS6KEXSS refrigerator is the quality of the indoor drawers. Some users complain that the crisper drawers fall of their tracks if you use them a lot. They look great and have some nice temperature features, but I just wish the quality was better. Also, fingerprints are going to show on the exterior. There really isn’t a way around that problem - just like any stainless steel model. In my opinion, the price is just a tad high for what you get (currently around $1,700). But don’t get me wrong, the GE GFSS6KEXSS is still a very nice refrigerator. Even with those issues, I’m giving this model a 3.8/5 star rating.

Best Refrigerator For College Dorm

Best Dorm Room RefrigeratorFinding the best refrigerator for college dorm rooms can be a tricky task. Most students want it to be smaller, look nice, be reliable, and have a freezer compartment. There are a ton of manufacturers out there that make mini fridges, but they are not all created equally. A couple brands that make some awesome refrigerators for college dorm rooms are: Frigidaire, Danby, Haier, Igloo, Kenmore, Supentown and EdgeStar. I’ve picked out 2 of the best models, which I think have all the the benefits (or most anyway) I listed above. I’ll share them with you below.

The first model on the “best refrigerator for college dorm room” list is: Haier HSA04WNCBB. This one is actually a little larger-sized, at 3.9 cubic ft. It would be great for roomates sharing a fridge. The best feature on this model is that it’s freezer compartment is full-sized. You can fit larger items in it, compared to other competitor models. Also, the refrigerated compartment is nice and big (comparatively anyway). The shelves are also adjustable. It currently sells for about $170.

The second model I recommend is the Kenmore 92779. This 2.7 cubic ft model is perfecft for tighter spaces. The freezer is small, but you can at least cram in a frozen meal and ice cube tray. The refrigerated section is small as well, but easily big enough for 12 cans of soda and a couple other food items. I really like the side door compartments. It adds to the space tremendously. The wire shelves are removable, but not adjustable. Probably the best thing about this refrigerator is that it’s under $100.
