The Hotpoint HTJ18GCTSA refrigerator is a top freezer model, which has just 18.2 cubic ft of space. While the exterior is not true stainless steel, it still looks great. In this review of the Hotpoint HTJ18GCTSA fridge, I’ll go over the positive and negative aspects of this model, then decide if it’s worth buying. This model is quite small, so it would probably work best for single people or couples. Once you start getting into the 3-4 member family range, this unit will feel very cramped. Here’s a quick rundown of the features you’ll get with this model: can storage in the door shelf, factory-installed ice maker, clear crisper drawers, snack drawer, adjustable glass shelves, gallon door bins, and a Never Clean condenser. This refrigerator is also Energy Star compliant, so it should do a decent job at keeping your energy bills lower.
OK, onto the negative aspects of the Hotpoint HTJ18GCTSA refrigerator. Probably the main problem I have with this unit is that the freezer seems so tiny, especially with the ice maker in there. Don’t get me wrong, I love having an ice maker – however, it’s very hard to give up space for it. A couple other things I wish it had: a freezer light, adjustable door bins, a filter for the ice, humidity-controlled crispers, and spill proof shelves. I know most of these things you wouldn’t expect a cheaper model to have – so it’s not a huge loss. I think the Hotpoint HTJ18GCTSA refrigerator is a winner, as far as function goes. I do think the freezer is a little small for my liking and a couple improvements could have been added, but overall it’s a very nice little unit. I’m giving it a 4 / 5 star rating.
The Hotpoint HTR16ABSLWW refrigerator is a very small top-mount model, with just 15.6 cubic ft of space. Obviously, this size model won’t work for everyone, but may work for single folks or as a 2nd unit. In this review of the Hotpoint HTR16ABSLWW fridge, I’ll go over this model’s best and worst features. While this unit only costs $500, there are a number of other models out there which have more square ft, and cost around the same price – so, I wouldn’t say this model is cheap. Some of it’s features include: gallon door storage, adjustable wire shelving, NeverClean condenser, and a crisper. The white-colored finish on this fridge is OK, but a little on the dull side.
Now, let’s move onto the negative aspects of the Hotpoint HTR16ABSLWW refrigerator. First off, I wish it had glass shelves rather than wire. Spills can go straight through to the bottom. The freezer seems a lot smaller than it actually is – even though it doesn’t have an ice maker. It’s also a little louder than the average model. While I don’t have a lot more to complain about with this unit, I think the Hotpoint HTR16ABSLWW fridge leaves the overall feeling of being average. Basically, there’s nothing that really stands out to me – except maybe that it has gallon door storage. At this price level, there are a number of other options out there. I’m giving this model a 3.5 / 5 star rating.
The Hotpoint HTH18GBTWW refrigerator is about as basic of a model as you can get. The white exterior of this top-freezer fridge is typical, but still has a nice look to it. In this review of the Hotpoint HTH18GBTWW refrigerator, I’ll go over the best features, as well as the potential negatives. Here’s what you can expect, as far as features go: NeverClean condenser, adjustable glass shelves, gallon door storage, can storage shelf, crisper drawers, and a snack drawer. This model also has a deluxe quiet design, which is supposed to help reduce noise levels. At 18.2 cubic ft, you can currently buy this refrigerator for around $540 at Home Depot – not a bad price for this feature set.
Now I’ll go over the Hotpoint HTH18GBTWW fridge’s potential negatives. The first issue I have with this model is how small the freezer is. It gets filled up super quick, especially if you have a family. Also, the door storage is not adjustable. And, if I’m throwing out a wish list – I would have liked it if the Hotpoint HTH18GBTWW refrigerator had an ice maker, a freezer light, and humidity-controlled crispers. Overall though, I think this is a great little fridge at a decent price. I’m giving it a 4 / 5 star rating.
Our Hotpoint HTH16BBXRWW refrigerator review: At 15.5 cubic ft, this fridge is probably going to be too small for most mid-sized families. However, the Hotpoint HTH16BBXRWW would work work great for couples or even single folks. A few features on this model include: gallon door storage, NeverClean condenser, adjustable shelves, two crispers, deluxe quiet design and it is also Energy Star qualified. While it doesn’t have a lot of features, it at least has all the basics covered.
There are a couple things on the Hotpoint HTH16BBXRWW refrigerator I wish they would have added or changed. First off, the freezer has no light or shelf. Second, the fridge section has wire shelving instead of glass. Third, the crispers are not humidity controlled. Fourth, the door bins are very small – and are not adjustable. Lastly, it’s a little noisy. I realize that a lot of this stuff is expected on a smaller refrigerator model, but it would still be nice to have. The Hotpoint HTH16BBXRWW is currently selling for around $600, which a bit higher than some similar competitor models. Overall, I can only give it this fridge a 3.5 / 5 star rating.
The Hotpoint HTM18IBPSA refrigerator is an 18 cubic ft top freezer model. In this review I’ll go over the Hotpoint HTM18IBPSA fridge’s positive and negative aspects and then give the final verdict of whether it’s worth the money. The silver metallic exterior looks nice, but I still prefer actual stainless steel. A few of its other features include: illuminated slimline temperature controls, NeverClean condenser, deluxe quiet design, gallon door storage, adjustable glass shelving, and rounded doors. An ice-maker is optional, which is a fairly common practice when buying a top freezer refrigerator.
The current price of the Hotpoint HTM18IBPSA refrigerator is $860. For this style of fridge and size, it’s a pretty typical price. Unfortunately, this model does have a few negative aspects to it. The first is that it’s not Energy Star qualified – which is not a huge deal, but it does mean you’ll pay more in the long run. A few other things I don’t like: the shelves are not spill-proof, there is no water filter for the ice maker, the door is not reversible, and the door storage is not adjustable. A few of those problems are not really deal breakers by themselves. However, put all together, I cannot give the Hotpoint HTM18IBPSA refrigerator very high ratings. I’m giving this model a 3.8/5 star rating.
Our Hotpoint HTS18BBPRWW review:Â The top-freezer designed Hotpoint HTS18BBPRWW refrigerator is not a very big model, with just 18 cubic ft of space. However, spacing isn’t such a big deal if the model uses what it has efficiently – and this one does for the most part. This fridge is a very basic model, so you aren’t going to get a lot of extra features. Some of the features it includes are: gallon door storage, deluxe quiet design, contoured doors, crispers, and a NeverClean condenser. Although there isn’t a factory-installed ice maker, you do have the option to buy one for it.
There are a couple things on the Hotpoint HTS18BBPRWW refrigerator that I don’t really like. The first is the wire shelving. Glass shelves work so much better, and they also look nicer. The second is the ice maker. Since this fridge is so basic, I think it would have been a nice touch to add something like a factory-installed ice maker. Also, the white exterior of the HTS18BBPRWW is going to show scratches and other markings more easily than other colors – but that’s to be expected. Another thing to consider is that it’s not Energy Star compliant, so it may use more energy than some other models. Lastly, I think the $830 price tag of the Hotpoint HTS18BBPRWW is a little higher than most competitors with this amount of features and space. All in all, it’s a fairly average refrigerator for a slightly above average price. I’m giving this model a 3.5 / 5 star rating.
The Hotpoint HTH17CBTWW refrigerator is a very simple, yet reliable top-freezer model. At just 16.6 cubic ft, it’s not going to be large enough for bigger families, but would be perfect for a couple or even single person. The Hotpoint HTH17CBTWW costs just over $400, making it one of the cheapest “full-size” fridges on the market. As far as features go, there isn’t much to talk about. The shelving is adjustable, it has gallon bins in the door, a couple crisper drawers, it runs fairly quietly and is made with a NeverClean condenser system.
As you probably noticed, the HTH17CBTWW refrigerator is a no-frills model. I don’t really have much to complain about it. A couple things I would have liked: glass shelving (comes with wire shelves) and at least the option to buy an ice-maker for extra. It’s a little small for my taste, but people know what they are getting when they buy this thing – so I’m not going to complain about it too much. Overall, the Hotpoint HTH17CBTWW is cheap, very reliable and very basic – I’m giving this refrigerator a 4/5 star rating.
The best refrigerator under $1000 is a tough choice. To be honest, there aren’t a lot of new refrigerators being sold these days for under $1000. Kenmore, Hotpoint and GE are the top brands that make most of these budget fridges.
I think the best refrigerator under $1000 would have to be the Hotpoint HSS25GFTWW. It’s a side-by-side model and comes standard with a through-the-door ice maker and water dispenser (plus a water filter). It has some exterior control buttons and a temperature reader. What is most attractive with this refrigerator is the 25 cubic ft interior. It has plenty of space for a family, and it’s built to last. It’s priced at the very high end of our budget, but still comes in at just under $1000.
If you’re looking for a cheaper model, the compact GE GTS18FBSWW and the Kenmore 74192 are great choices as well. They are both priced around $550. Both are actually top-freezer design models. The Kenmore is slightly bigger at 20.6 cubic ft (the GE is around 18). Even though both of these models could be considered for the best refrigerator under $1000 award – I would still highly recommend the Hotpoint model, if you have the money.
My Hotpoint HSS25GTWW refrigerator review: The Hotpoint HSS25GTWW is one of the best budget side-by-side refrigerators on the market today. It’s one of the roomiest as well, at 25 cubic ft. In fact, you can fit a whole pizza box inside the fridge compartment. This model is also very dependable – mostly because there are not many extra gadgets to break. However, it does have a water filter and a through-the-door water and ice dispenser (comes with child lock). It also has a couple external temperature controls.
The Hotpoint HSS25GTWW refrigerator is fairly quiet, which most people should appreciate. The inside features a good amount of adjustable shelving and even adjustable gallon door shelves. Although the inner shelves are great, they are not spill-proof. Also, this model doesn’t have an Energy Star certification. Even with these couple drawbacks, the Hotpoint HSS25GTWW refrigerator’s $1099 price tag helps make it a best buy. I give it 4/5 stars.
Finding the best refrigerator for the money doesn’t have to be difficult anymore. I’ve found two of the best refrigerators for the money – both models are $1000 or less, and provide the best bang for the buck. They both have their benefits, and of course their drawbacks. Here they are:
The first refrigerator is the Hotpoint HSS25GFTWW. It’s the more expensive of the two, at around $1000. But that still puts it on the low end, as far as new refrigerators go. It has a roomy 25 cubic foot interior, and is a side-by-side model. There are some nice features – such as the through-the-door ice and water dispensers, and water filter. Also, there are a few extra features such as the exterior temperature reader and control buttons. I think the roomy interior will really surprise you, it’s probably the top selling point.
The second best refrigerator for the money is the Kenmore 74192. It is a top-freezer design, which a lot of customers prefer. This model only costs around $600 – a good deal cheaper than the Hotpoint fridge. Now, don’t expect a lot of extra features on this Kenmore, just the basics. However, it does include an icemaker, standard. It also has glass shelves and two humidity controlled crispers. Noise level is a little higher than average. However, without many gadgets or extra features, the 74192 model should last you many years.
